Our Students

The age of our students varies between 18 to 28, men and women, and they come at different stages of life—some are single, some are married, and some whose partners have left them and who are seeking education to support themselves.

We currently take on a maximum number of 30 students, although with our new facilities we have plenty of room to expand in future.

Because most of our students come from rural farms and villages in Karnataka, Andra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, we provide accommodation and meals in a flat with a housemother to care for them. We do not charge our students for anything. However the students are expected to help with some of the basic chores like keeping their quarters clean, some food preparation and doing their own washing.

Some students board with Bartimaeus, whilst others commute daily from outside.

A happy family atmosphere is encouraged and we occasionally indulge in outings, picnics and birthday celebrations. It is always sad to say ‘goodbye’, as we see them into the next stage of their lives.
